This 5 acre paradise is worth the visit in and of itself for the sheer enjoyment of nature and tranquility. As a venue to hone your photo skills, there are winding paths bordered by greenery and flowers and your Digital Photo Academy instructor will demonstrate and supervise a variety of camera and composition strategies to create memorable images.
Try a framing and Depth of Field technique with a massive tree trunk on the far side border of the frame in crisp focus, highlighted by a blurred backdrop of plants and brick pathways for the rest of the scene. You might discover a more compelling outcome, instead of a dead center shot of your main subject. Your Digital Photo Academy Instructor will demonstrate and supervise how easy these techniques are to conquer. Use a Leading Lines approach to photograph a pathway, draw the viewers of your photo to begin at the lower right corner of your frame, diagonally upward to the left, across the top of the image and back down again. These and other approaches are easy to learn and useful for planning the look of your photographs instead of snapping the shutter release without an upfront understanding of how the 3 dimensional scene will be captured in your 2 dimensional photograph.
Pair up with another member of the workshop and your instructor will show you how a Rule of Thirds portrait can become a narrative with elements within the overall image that somehow define place, time and other relative components which tell a story about the person who is showcased.
