Plymouth Bridge

Plymouth Bridge and Boom Island Park are excellent settings for capturing panoramic views of the Minneapolis skyline. This class will take place in the late afternoon, and will continue into the hours of dusk and early evening. Dusk is known as the “magic hour” for photographers, because the light it provides can translate into truly magical photographic works. Your DPA instructor will teach you how to control your camera as the light shifts to achieve the best results.

Situated above historic Main Street, Nicollet Island, and the St. Anthony Lock and Dam, Boom Island connects visitors to the majestic beauty of the Mississippi River. From this vantage point you will have the opportunity to photograph buildings, boats, bridges, people, and plants – all while learning new compositional skills from your DPA instructor.

Your instructor will help you understand the concepts of aperture and shutter speed, and how they relate to the amount of glow that emanates off of the lights you will be photographing. You will be encouraged to experiment with a variety of different settings on your digital camera until you create images that you like.

Plymouth Bridge is currently closed to all car traffic but open for pedestrians and bikers, so you can photograph the skyline without the distraction of cars whizzing by.

Another skill you will learn during this class is how to take beautiful macro images. Learn how to selectively focus on your subject while blurring the background to create frame-worthy photographs.

Please bring your digital camera, and any other camera equipment you would like to use. Please dress for the weather and wear your most comfortable clothes.

Call Digital Photo Academy at 1 877 372 2231. Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number.  It would be even better if you included your e mail address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering.  If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at DPAbooking@digitalphotoacademy.com or Richard@digitalphotoacademy.com.
