Night & Low Light at Gravelly Point
Gravelly Point is the park located just North of Washington National Airport (DCA). It provides a great view of the airport as well as Washington DC and the US Capitol. Located right at the edge of the Potomac River with a view of the 14th Street Bridge and East Potomac Park, there is a lot to photograph at Gravelly Park.
During this class you will learn how to photograph aircraft taking off and landing during the Golden Hour. Using a tripod and long exposures you will learn techniques that will help you in any low light situation. You will also learn how to anticipate where elements will end up as they move through your composition and how you get the timing right so that you get the photos you anticipate. What are the best setting to achieve the look and feel you are going for? Join the class and find out!
If you have sensitive hearing please bring earplugs as the aircraft could be within 200 feet over head of us as the come in to landing at DCA. It can get very loud!
Meet the group at the bike trail end of the parking lot on the playing field. There is plenty of parking for everyone. For those who choose to take the Metro please allow 25 minutes to walk from the Washington National Airport Metro Station to the park.
