First opened in 1933 as Saguaro National Monument to protect the giant Saguaro cacti, the monument was elevated to National Park status in 1994. The EAST section of Saguaro National Park sits to the east of Old Spanish Trail Rd. on the far-east side of Tucson in includes about 104 miles. In 1961 President Kennedy added 25 miles of cactus land to the west of Tucson in what is now called Saguaro National Park WEST (Tucson Mountain District). We will hold classes at the original part of the park: Saguaro National park EAST (Rincon Mountain District). Free parking is available at the visitor center. We will meet under the ramada to the west of the building for our instruction, then walk into the desert to explore the area without passing the pay station and driving on the 9-mile loop (unless we are a small enough group and it is agreed upon by all participants to carpool in at a cost of $15 per car). In addition to your cameras and charged batteries, bring water, a hat, sunblock and closed-toe shoes appropriate for walking in the desert.
Directions:
The most direct route is from 22nd St. Head east on 22nd to just beyond Harrison Rd. Turn right on Old
Spanish Trail and go approximately 4 miles and turn left into the park, which is just beyond Freeman Rd.

Call Digital Photo Academy at 1 877 372 2231. Lots of people seem to hang up if our welcome recording comes on instead of a live voice, but we promise to return your message within a day or two if you leave one with your name and number. It would be even better if you included your e mail address as well as the date and city of the class you are considering. If leaving a voice mail message is not your thing, please email us at [email protected].
